Stop Medicating Borderlines and Antisocials

I get numerous requests, in the ER and in the clinic, to medicate patients who have "treat" those with borderline personality and antisocial personality. It seems heartless to tell the family members of the patients "sorry, nothing I can do," but this is the truth. Therapy itself is of limited efficacy.
Until these folks gain some insight into their behavior, all the medication and therapy in the world will do nothing.

The Latest Antipsychotics

There have been multiple antipsychotics and antidepressants now FDA approved in the past 5 years. Everything from INvega Trinza to Abilify Auristada to Trintellix to Rexulti. There is little in the way of ADHD treatments; just new formulations of old meds such as Adenzys. These novel medications offer hope to patients who have been resistant to treatment with all other agents in the past. However, do they confer any advantage over the older meds on the market? I think the jury is still out.

Announcing my new private psychiatry practice

Good morning! I wanted to announce my new psychiatry practice in downtown Brooklyn opening in one month. I look forward to seeing all adults and children with challenging life issues such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and depression. I am not afraid to take on challenging cases.
I offer a fresh, honest approach to psychiatric care. I am not afraid to "tell it like it is" and advise you in a very straightforward manner; while being kind and compassionate in the meanwhile. If I can not help you or if I feel psychiatric care is not for you, I will also let you know.
Please kindly e-mail me at drnancywahab@gmail.com for more information.
